Colophon
A colophon is the note at the end of a book describing how it was made — the typefaces, the paper, the press. This is ours.
The stack
- Framework
- Astro 5, server-rendered. Pages are HTML first; JavaScript only where it earns its keep.
- Hosting
- Cloudflare Workers — the site runs at the edge, close to wherever you are. No traditional server to patch or reboot.
- Content
- Cloudflare D1 (SQLite). Pages, sermons, signup forms, and registrations are database rows, edited through a custom admin panel — changes go live instantly, and every save keeps a restorable backup.
- Media
- Cloudflare R2 holds sermon audio, documents, and photos, served straight from the bucket.
- Spam protection
- Cloudflare Turnstile on the signup forms — no puzzles, no tracking.
Typography
Headings are set in Fraunces, a wonky old-style serif. Body text uses your device's system font — fast, familiar, and one less download.
Privacy
No tracking cookies, no ads, no analytics beacons selling your attention. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without identifying anyone.
Source & infrastructure
The code lives on a self-hosted Forgejo
instance; pushes to main build and deploy automatically via
Forgejo Actions. Cloudflare resources are managed as code with
OpenTofu.
